WSIB and Physiotherapy in Ontario: What Injured Workers Need to Know

A workplace injury throws you off balance. On top of managing the pain itself, you're suddenly dealing with paperwork, claims, and a process most people have never had to navigate before. This post is here to make the WSIB side of things clearer.

WSIB, the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board, is Ontario's workers' compensation system. If you're injured at work and your employer is covered by WSIB, you're entitled to benefits that can include WSIB physiotherapy at a registered clinic.

Start by reporting the injury to your employer as soon as possible. Your employer is required to file a Form 7 with WSIB. You should also file your own claim directly with WSIB using Form 6, available on the WSIB website.

Once your claim is active, you can be referred to a physiotherapy clinic registered with WSIB. Active Path Physiotherapy is registered with WSIB and treats workplace injury patients directly. We handle the billing on your behalf, so you don't pay out of pocket for covered treatment.

What does WSIB physiotherapy cover? WSIB covers assessment and treatment for your workplace injury. How many sessions you get, and what type of treatment is covered, depends on your injury and where your claim stands. We work within WSIB's framework and stay in direct contact with your case manager as needed.

Common workplace injuries we treat through WSIB include soft tissue sprains and strains, back and neck injuries, shoulder injuries, repetitive strain injuries, and fracture rehab.

The most important thing is not to delay treatment. Early physiotherapy tends to mean better outcomes and a shorter road back. If your WSIB claim is approved, there's no reason to sit and wait.

If you've been injured at work and aren't sure how to get started, call us at 905-794-8003. We'll walk you through what we need and get you booked in quickly.
